Back from the Dead

Published by torontofan under Uncategorized Edit This

I’m back.

Sorry for my time away. I’ve been in a huge life upheaval, moving, new work, etc. etc. etc. Not that anyone’s interested, nor should you be.

Since I’ve been M.I.A., a lot of stuff has happened. Let’s do a little rundown:

The Leafs are still losing. A lot. The difference: Pogge is between the pipes a little more than he was before, and has not played to an NHL level. It makes it sting a little bit more every time I put on my Tuukka Rask jersey. Brian Burke has spouted off to anyone that will listen that the entire roster is on the block, including Luke Schenn. No trades have been made.

The Raptors are still losing. A lot. The difference: Bosh and Calderon are both injured, although Jose is going to play tonight on his bum hammy.

In more exciting news: J.O. and Jamario are no longer on the team, and Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks are. While we’ve yet to see any action from these two new raptors, I’ve got to believe that this is a great trade for Toronto. We give up on an aging, injury prone offensive-black-hole Centre and a jump shot happy borderline NBA player for an expiring contract / legit wing player and a backup PG / 2 guard. This allows our starters (when CB4 is healthy) to look like: Jose, AP, Marion, CB, Bargnani. Banks is obviously the wildcard in this deal. I guess Brian decided to man up and eat the shitty contract he signed Banks to. If he can become a serviceable back-up PG and put in quality minutes with few turnovers, I’m content.

Realistically, between our soft schedule and the steaming pile of feces known as the eastern conference, the raps could make a push for the playoffs, and, with a big whack of cash coming off the books next year, the raps can make a play for some quality wing play to hopefully help Chris resign in T.O. Either way, sweet for us.

Tonight, however, they play the Cavs, so don’t expect the resurgence to start immediately. (Or, as I will do, choose to ignore this game’s existence. It’s on TSN2, and I operate under the if-I-can’t-see-it, it-isn’t-real theory).

The blue jays have… uhh… signed Matt Clement? Fuck.

TorontoFC signed a young Argentinean striker named ‘Vitti’. I don’t know much about him, but from what I read he’s got a whole pile of skill accompanied by a bad attitude. I, for one, am excited about this TFC season. They are the only team in T.O. who have a legitimate shot at making the playoffs this year, and for that I am excited.

Raptors play the Cavs tonight on TSN2.
